‘Behold the haute hoodie’ | As Seen In The Times
“The term hoodie is no longer the metonym it once was. We are all hoodie wearers now”, says Fashion Director of The Times, Anna Murphy.
Despite their questionable reputation in the early 00’s, hoodies have for many of us, now become an integral part of our everyday lockdown wardrobe.
“Hoodies are offering up that extra bit of insulation for those of us forcing ourselves to go for a walk with a friend” Murphy says, or of course they also act as a useful social distancing cocoon.
“For me the secret to making a hoodie work if you aren’t 16 or a skateboarder” Murphy says, is “what you wear with it”.
The hood, she argues can transform most outfits for a contemporary edge. “Athleisure is the nearest we have got to the elixir of youth these days”, after all.
Layering is key, especially in the unpredictable pendulum of spring weather. “ME+EM’s cashmere iteration, available in eight colors, is designed specifically for layering, and also has a button-through front for added flexibility”.
Our Icon Cashmere Box Hoody has a super soft, luxe hand feel and features a clever button fastening concealed behind a placket for a flat front. The hood is also finished with a rib neck trim detail for a sporty feel.
