Our ultimate aim with the clothes we create is to make women feel confident. In our own small way, we want to help women go out into the world and achieve great things. But we know in all cases it takes more than just clothes. It takes education, training and support.
That’s why, in honour of International Women’s Day, ME+EM is delighted to take part in The Prince’s Trust #ChangeAGirlsLife campaign. The campaign is part of their Women Supporting Women initiative, of which ME+EM Founder Clare Hornby is a proud ambassador.
The goal of the Women Supporting Women initiative is to nurture, empower and inspire young women to build their own futures through employment, self-employment, education or training.
ME+EM will be donating £10 from every item purchased online and in-store on 8 March to the #ChangeAGirlsLife campaign.
“I’m honoured to be an ambassador for Women Supporting Women. As a business founder, surrounded by a team of incredible women at every level, helping young women realise their dreams and potential isn’t just rewarding, it’s important”
- Clare Hornby, Founder + CEO
The Future of Intelligent Style
These young female entrepreneurs share their stories of how their lives have been changed by The Prince’s Trust.
Lauren Mann - Founder Farrow Friends
Inspired by her own personal experience of looking after relatives with dementia, Lauren founded Farrow Friends. Her business enables elderly people to live independent lives, while also helping to minimise isolation. Services include shopping, travel to appointments, cleaning and befriending.
Lauren says, ‘I felt completely lost before I found The Prince’s Trust, but now I’ve found my purpose in life. They put me on the right track, helped me to believe in myself and my business and gave me a helpful nudge in the right direction.’
After winning a competition organised by The Prince’s Trust, Lauren will also gain additional support and mentoring this year from businesswoman and BBC Apprentice regular Linda Plant.
‘I’m so thrilled and excited to be mentored by Linda Plant as she has so much experience in the business world. I’m keen to grow my business and move it onto the next level. It’s such a fantastic opportunity – I’m really grateful.’
Farhana Ibrahim - Founder
Binta's Kitchen
Farhana currently runs Binta's Kitchen, a London-based, female-founded and black-owned brand founded during the pandemic that is committed to putting northern Nigerian foods on the map. It’s also committed to wellness, teaching children about healthy eating choices and ending child food poverty.
Farhana says, ‘I loved meeting the other entrepreneurs on the Enterprise course. A lot of us are still in contact and we support each other.’
Ellie Taylor - Founder
Blossoms Mobile Petting Farm
22-year-old Ellie opened her business, Blossoms Mobile Petting Farm, after completing The Prince’s Trust Enterprise programme in February 2020.
Animals have always offered Ellie comfort, especially after the death of her grandad. Now she has guinea pigs, chinchillas, rabbits, turtles, a lizard and a snake, which she takes to children’s parties and school workshops where children can pet and learn more about each animal.
Looking to the future, Ellie hopes to buy land to open a petting farm in the West Midlands and increase the number of animals she has.
